Why is the correct startup process so important?

At work, safety processes work in an extremely strict way. Following the correct startup procedure not only protects your own safety and prevents accidental injury or equipment damage, but also ensures that the equipment is in optimal working condition and prolongs its service life. Developing good habits starts with startup!

Critical preparations before starting a backhoe loader

Before you turn the key, be sure to complete these safety checks and preparations. This is a core part of your SOP.

First, walk around the machine slowly. Check the tires/tracks for obvious damage or insufficient air pressure. Check for hydraulic oil, engine oil, coolant or fuel leaks. Make sure the working device (loader bucket, excavator bucket, boom, dipper arm) is not damaged, the pins are tight, and there are no obstacles or people around. Check that the lights and reflective signs are intact.

Second, enter the cab: Use both hands and one foot or two feet and one hand to climb onto the machine firmly, making sure the steps and handrails are clean and dry. Safety first!

Third cab interior inspection: Adjust the seat and fasten the seat belt! Check that all instruments and indicators are intact. Make sure the operating lever is in neutral or locked position. Confirm that the parking brake is applied. Put the transmission gear in neutral.

Step-by-Step Startup Procedure

After completing all checks and confirming that it is safe, you can now start the engine:

First Insert Key: Insert the key into the ignition switch.

Second, turn on the power: Turn the key to the "ON" or "RUN" position, do not start the machine at this time. At this time, the warning lights and indicator lights on the dashboard will light up for self-test. Wait a few seconds for the system to complete the self-test. Observe whether there is a fault light that is continuously lit.

Third. Start the engine: Make sure your feet are away from all pedals (accelerator, brake, steering clutch, etc.). Turn the key to the "START" position. The engine starts to turn.

Fourth, after the engine starts: Do not operate immediately! It is very important to let the engine warm up at low idle speed. The warm-up time varies according to the ambient temperature or follow the instructions in the operating manual.

Fifth,Operation after preheating: Slowly and gently operate each hydraulic control lever (loader lift/lower/bucket retract/dump bucket; excavator boom/arm/bucket/swing). Each action is in place and returned to the middle position.
